Born a bonafide genius, our spicy firecracker of a rival has lived in the spotlight for as long as he could remember! From being the best at seemingly everything and anything he tries his hand at, to being blessed with a powerful, flashy quirk, it’s almost ironic as it seems he was predestined to be the arrogant egotistical person we meet him as.
Realizing from a young age that he’s naturally “the best”, along with all the attention and praise that came with his excellence, in the end only served to raise him so high up before the inevitable crash into his Core Fear!
Kacchan’s Spotlight Craving is a major element throughout his early character arc, as he is driven constantly to flaunt his superiority and to challenge any perceived threat or disrespect, especially as he comes to grips with the reality of his new classmates’ capabilities, not least of all Deku. Despite still being quite close to the top of the hierarchy, it was incredibly distressing for young Bakugo to realize how close his peers were, as well as how generally indifferent everyone was to his previously unmatched greatness.
But despite the great shock this presented and the weight it placed on him psychologically, such as having lost to Deku, someone he considered utterly worthless, our explosive ENTJ is not one for sulking pity parties. Quickly acclimating to his new surroundings and position, Katsuki continued to rise and advance, fighting back the humility that’s constantly nipping at his heels.
Bakugo’s Te is often demonstrated not only by his ambition, capability for strategy, versatility, and quick thinking, but surprisingly great leadership as well!
Standing alongside his rival, he is one of the great beacons of leadership and direction in his class, from helping his friend study, to rallying his teammates, all in the pursuit of absolute victory.
The explosive hero’s use of Ni is subtle, but undeniable. As his tertiary Se picks up on details such as Deku’s odd reaction to All Mights broadcast, or even the slightest shifts in the heat of combat, all this feeds into his inevitable realizations, conclusions, and understandings. Seeing, and knowing the unfolding of events without any real confirmation being necessary.
The Fi that we see in Kacchan is in the roots of what makes him who he truly is. The unwavering determination to be the number one hero. To be “just like All Might”. To always win, no matter what. It is this Fi code that has both caused him so much grief throughout his growth, as his entire perception of heroism is challenged (Losing to someone he felt was not just weaker than him, but not even in the same playing field, Holding himself responsible for the #1 hero’s retirement) But it is also what balances out his Te driven “pedal to the metal” style of pursuing strength and power. Where the villains thought they had an easy and obvious recruit due to his nature, they instead found an unwavering will that would never even consider giving in to evil.
